Privacy Policy

TL;DR
- Trips stay on your device and in your private iCloud account. We don't operate a server.
- No analytics, no advertising IDs, no tracking.
- No data shared with third parties.
- Apple Intelligence features (trip names, recaps, trivia, cover art) run on your device.
Information the app handles
Everything Mile Marker Trip processes is handled locally on your iPhone and stored in your private iCloud database. We have no access to it. The app may handle:
| Category | Where it lives | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Trip details | Device + private iCloud | Plan and display the trip |
| Travelers | Device + private iCloud | Optional iCloud share, attribution |
| Photos & stamps | Device + private iCloud | Trip mementos |
| Location | In-memory only while app open | Map dot + nearby POIs |
| Map searches | Sent to Apple Maps (MapKit) | Resolve addresses |
| Cover art | Device + private iCloud | Trip cover |
| Siri/App Intents | iOS App Intents | Voice control |
Apple Intelligence features
Trip name suggestions, recap narration, custom trivia, and Image Playground cover art all use Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework. Prompts and responses are processed on your iPhone. They are not transmitted to us or to any third-party AI service. Apple may handle some operations through Apple's Private Cloud Compute when the device defers to it; that path is governed by Apple's privacy commitments.
iCloud sharing
When you share a trip, iOS creates a CKShare record in your private iCloud database. Only people you explicitly invite can access it. The app does not transmit shared data through any server we operate.
Location
The app uses location only while open ("When in Use"). Your location is never written to disk or transmitted to us. Revoke at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
Data we do NOT collect
- No advertising identifiers, IDFA, or cross-app tracking.
- No third-party analytics (no Firebase, Mixpanel, Sentry).
- No crash reporting beyond Apple's standard, opt-in iOS diagnostics.
- No payment data — Apple handles all in-app purchase billing.
- No contacts, calendar, microphone, health, motion, or HomeKit data.
- No data sold or transferred to brokers.
Children
Mile Marker Trip is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. The app has no accounts and no chat features. All data stays in the device owner's iCloud account.

If we update this policy, the new effective date will appear here. Material changes will be surfaced inside the app on next launch.
